Shibori är en traditionell japansk färgningsteknik där tyget knyts, viks eller på annat sätt formas för att delvis förhindra att färgen tränger in i tyget. På så sätt skapas en mängd olika och särpräglade mönster.

Kanoko Shibori
Kanoko Shibori är en teknik där små, tätt sammanbundna punkter arrangeras i ett regelbundet mönster. Namnet kommer av att det färdiga mönstret liknar fläckarna på ett rådjurskid.
Hitta Shibori
Hitta shibori är en variant av kanoko shibori där enskilda knutna punkter placeras regelbundet. För varje punkt lindas bomullstråden ungefär fyra till åtta varv för att skapa den karakteristiska formen. Punkterna är något större och den regelbundna placeringen ger tyget ett livfullt och elegant rytmiskt uttryck.
Arashi Shibori
Arashi shibori är en teknik där tyget lindas runt en stav och därefter binds hårt med tråd för att skapa mönstret. När tyget färgas framträder tunna, flödande diagonala linjer. Namnet ”Arashi”, som betyder ”storm”, syftar på linjernas dynamiska och vindliknande uttryck.

Kanoko Shibori
Kanoko shibori is a technique in which small, tightly gathered dots are arranged in an orderly pattern. The name comes from the resemblance of the finished pattern to the spots of a fawn.
Hitta Shibori
Hitta shibori is a type of kanoko shibori in which individual knots are arranged in a regular pattern. For each dot, cotton thread is wrapped approximately four to eight times to create the characteristic shape. The dots are slightly larger, and their orderly arrangement gives the fabric a lively and elegant rhythm.
Arashi Shibori
Arashi shibori is a technique in which the fabric is wrapped around a pole and then tightly bound with thread to create the pattern. The finished fabric features fine, flowing diagonal lines. The name “Arashi,” meaning “storm,” refers to the dynamic appearance of these lines.
